peanut butter.

Cooking is rather spectacular. Not only do you get the sense of achievement from baking the goods, you also get the added bonus of eating them when they are done. I had planned to make some biscuits on Friday but the 39C heat all day did provide for a slight deterrent - I had no intention of heating an oven in the kitchen to push the thermostat just that bit higher.

The ever so slight but still there downside of cooking is the necessity of consuming. Yes you may say "oh.. but you don't have to eat the cake/cookies/slice/concoction that you just made".. well I'm sorry but that is a lie, of course you do! why else make it in the first place?!

It is this need to consume after that is the only issue for me as, being a teenage girl, I tend to do the annoying thing called "fluctuating", generally in terms of my own appearance.
One week I am cheering for the pale-skin revolution and spouting heart felt approval for my porcelain colouring, loving the just-enough curves I have and being grateful that unlike others.. I actually have an arse. Then the next week comes filled with hatred for being 'fat' and wishing for a tan and the ability to wear a shapeless bag and look good in it.
Luckily the love-of-paleness usually wins, and for the majority of the time I am quite contented with how and who I am but when cookies come into the frame and then I eat them and then have a down day.. things don't roll so easily.

Well.. that was a long winded way to get to an explanation.. but I think it makes some sense, somewhere in a small but existing faculty of the brain.

Here is the recipe for the cookies, from my dearest baking friend Jac:
peanut butter cooooookies.

125g butter, softened
1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda

and i added what was left of a small bag of dark chocolate chips.

1. preheat oven to 160C/140C fanforced. grease oven trays and line with baking paper.
2. beat butter, peanut butter, sugar and egg in a small bowl with electric mixer until combined. stir in sifted dry ingredients and choc chips (best do it in batches or you'll get flour everywhere ><")
3. roll heaped teaspoons of mixture into balls with floured hands. place about 5cm apart on oven trays; flatten slightly with hands. (they don't really spread, so you can place them pretty close together, and use a fork or something for pretty patterns =])
4. bake about 12 minutes. cool on trays.

and a picature of the tasties:

I hope you think they're tastie too.
